CAMEROON TO HOST THE AFCON 2019

For some time now, there were only speculations that Cameroon could be the host of the African Cup Of Nations in 2019. This was since the FIFA president, Sepp Blatter was seen visiting the country earlier this year to observe and supervise the various facilities put in place by the Cameroon Football Federation in their contest to host this competition.

The Cameroonian Football Federation, FECAFOOT has been working hard together with the government to put in place everything that will be needed to host such an event. New stadia are being constructed such as the Limbe and Bafoussam football stadia and more are still to come.

Cameroon is one of the biggest footbal nations on the African continent and has been cup winners 4 times but has only hosted the competition once and that was way back in the seventies.

The decision for the country to host the 2019 AFCON came in this afternoon from Adis Abbeba.

It is not until lately that the striker has been in negociative talks with another top Premier League side, Liverpool FC.

There will be so much awaited from Eto'o if he joins Liverpool after his former manager, Mourinho caused a scandal about his age.

SAMEUL ETO'O POSSIBLE TRANSFER TO WEST HAM

Samuel Eto'o is no more with Chelsea FC and at this moment stands without a club. However there has been rumours about his transfer to other clubs. His season at Chelsea came to a sour end with team manager, Jose Mourinho's controversy over the striker's age.

It was said that AS Roma wanted the Cameroonian international and the deal never worked out as the club could not meet to Eto'o's demands. Again headlines were made relating to Arsenal and Everton wanting the striker. Queens Park Rangers were also in demand of Eto'o in a bit to strengthen their come back to the Premier League. This was seen as Claudio Vigorelli, the striker's agent held talks with the club's manager, harry Redknapp. However the talks seem to have been of light weight as the striker's wage demands were ''over rated''.

Most recent of all is Eto'o's transfer talks with West Ham's boss, Sam Allardyce. His representatives held talks yesterday concerning his possible move to West Ham alongside Peter Crouch in a bit to solidify the club's attack line as it was handicapped by Andy Caroll's persistent season injury. Eto'o demands £100,000 as weekly wage, an amount which may not be considered by the club.

CAMEROON ELIMINATED FROM THE WORLD CUP

After Australia and Spain, Cameroon joined the camp eliminated from World Cup 2014. While they absolutely had to win to keep chances of qualifying, the Indomitable Lions were dominated sharply by Croatia with a score of 4 - 0 for their second match of Group A.

While their star striker Samuel Eto'o with a knee injury, was installed on the bench, Cameroonians quickly lost control of the meeting. Croats opened the scoring in the 11th minute thanks to Ivica Olic who deceived the keeper left. Five minutes from the end of the first half, the situation has worsened for African team after the expulsion of Alexandre Song. Slightly blocked by Mario Mandzukic on a Cameroonian counter attack, FC Barcelona player sent him a blow in the back, immediately punished by the referee.

During the second half, the game quickly became one-sided. Croats have up attacks. Ivan Perisic doubled the scoring in the 48th minute a cross-shot from the left, while Mandzukic scored twice in the 61st and 73rd minute. Thanks to this success, men Niko Kovac can still access the knockout stages. Their match against Mexico Monday, June 23 will be decisive.

However the defeat, great play was still showed by players such as Moukanjo, Aboubakar, Mbia, Nkoulou and Enoh.

Cameroon still has one compensatory match left against Brazil. The Brazilians will sure do all to win this one as losing it to the Cameroonians could be an invitation to joining then out of the competition together.

AFRICAN CONFEDERATIONS CUP: COTON SPORT TRAILS OVER ASEC MIMOVA

INDOMITABLE LIONS STILL HOPEFUL

Now its Mexico and Brazil on 4 points each and Cameroon and Croatia with zero each. The Lions still have hopes. After losing the first match to Mexico by 1-0, the Lions take on their second and ''must win'' match against Croatia today. Even a draw could not help out in this one. After Croatia, the Lions take on Brazil in their last group stage match. If they could grap 6 points, then they qualify for the second round. But they mae be playing without star player Samuel Eto'o who picked up a knee injury. Fingers are  crossed now. Allez les Lions

SAMUEL ETO'O IS CONFIDENT OF AFRICA TEAMS IN BRAZIL 2014 WORLD CUP

Indomitable Lions striker Samuel Eto'o was in the Ivory Coast from 14th through 18th May at the invitation of the Ivorian Board for Sports to grace the Copa Cola-Cola youth tournament. In between his busy schedule shuttling between the capital Abidjan and Bouaké, Eto'o took time to share his thoughts about the FIFA World Cup Brazil2014, predicting that Africa teams will do well and have a big say as to which way the trophy goes. The Lions go to Brazil together with four other African teams – Algeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria.

What prospects do Africans have at the World Cup?

African teams are likely going to do well in Brazil. And I state that there are reasons to believe in our qualities. In all major European championships, there are always African players that play major roles. The only problem in Africa is our leaders who do not respect us. Until we are respected, the others will never have any consideration for us. I say it, and restate it that Africa will have its say in Brazil.

What do you think about the Ivory Coast, presented as the best team on the continent?

We are all of the opinion that Côte d’Ivoire is the best team on paper. Looking at the team it has no equal from an African point of view. But at the same time, I say that it is time the Elephants proved in the presence of everyone that they are the best. It is time they demonstrated their real character. They should explode in the sight of the entire world. And I think that it is time for this generation to make an impression on people.

What do you think of Yaya Touré?
He is exceptional! Look at what he did with Manchester City. It is phenomenal. To me, there is no doubt that Yaya Touré is the best player in the world. He has accomplished an extraordinary season. The goals he scores with his team are just incredible. If these were done by Lionel Messi, it would have been said immediately that he is the best player on the planet. Yaya Touré scores goals that Lionel Messi, Pélé or other great players have scored.

Being captain of the Indomitable Lions and being paired in the same Group as Brazil, aren’t you scared of what lies ahead?
We respect all our adversaries and the same goes for our World Cup Group A. It is true that Brazil will be the most popular before its people and home fans, but I'm not scared of this team, we will not be scared of them. In my career we have played against this team before. We beat the Brazilians at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. There was a certain Ronaldinho in the team and many others. Eto’o is not scared. Cameroon is not scared.

What is the true nature of your relations with the coach, José Mourinho, who once remarked that you were old?
Contrary to what a puppet says about my age, I am still physically fit. At 33, I feel real good. I have proven that I could do better than youths. And I wish to also say that I am not going to the United States or to the Middle East. I will continue at the top level. I will continue to play the Champions League. My romance with this competition is far from over. I will not tell you where, but I will be at the top level. I am 33 and I have two World Cups to play. Before me there are other players who went on until the age of 41. So I can continue.

Following the World Cup, you will return to Ivory Coast and Cameroon contesting qualifiers for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Do these encounters excite you?
Those games are still far off. When the time comes, I will consider that. I wouldn’t like to make a statement about a match before which many things can still happen.

A football icon, what are Samuel Eto’o relations with African youths?
I have always said that youths are the present and the future. We have to show them the way so that they could live their dreams. My case is a real life lesson. I left for Europe too early and that was a bad choice. When I realised that it was a dead end, I decided to return home. I knew that education was the best weapon, if I had to succeed. That helped me very much when I got to Real Madrid. If I had not known how to read, I would have faced serious difficulties at that time.

EDGARD SALLI BRINGING RC LENS TO THE LIGUE 1 : THE INTERVIEW

http://www.rclens.fr/site/club_equipe/2013/salli_edgar/1.jpg6-1 is a totally unexpected score , right?
Indeed , no one doubted that we would win on such a scale . But as they say , we are aware of our qualities . And the coach has often told us a speech serenity. After that, I do not know whether this is the RC Lens that was very strong or Istres is passed through ... In any case , we tried to give everything. We also remained focused until the last minute even if we conceded a goal that a bit edgy coach .
Now everything can be played on Friday against Brest Bollaert ...
Each of us hoping for a good Friday! (smile) We want to do everything to win and go in Ligue 1. There really like before every game , the desire to fight. After that, we know very well that since the beginning of the season there was no easy match . We will prepare us better to approach this game well . At Bollaert , it will do better than in our latest releases at home. I do not think that 40,000 people have paralyzed us. Perhaps it was thought that more is at stake But Istres game , we knew we release .

Edgar , would you make a new season at Lens next year?

"I wish ! Especially with the public and the Lens group. Why not continue the adventure! If I had to leave , what I would miss the most is the audience! She was behind us all season. In Monaco, it was not the same. This is the first time I saw such an audience! It helped me tremendously . Last year I did not play much . With Lens, it was a season of recovery. It will take forward and show more in the future! My goal was to find and replay sensations . That's what I did with Lens. Although it was difficult, I 'm happy , even if it is not finished yet. "

ETO'O ''OLD MAN'' GOAL CELEBRATION COUNTERS MOURINHO'S AGE MOCKERY OF HIM

About two weeks ago, it was revealed that Chelsea FC's Cameroonian soccer star, Samuel Eto'o was mocked by his Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho about his age. This Mourinho however denied this and claimed that he was only having a private discussion.

In the weekend's Premier League game of Chelsea - Tottenham where Eto'o opened scores to their 4 - 1 victory, he took this as an opportunity to make a counter mockery of Mourinho's earlier mockery. This was after he opened the scores.

In his pose, Eto'o stood bended with left hand on his left back waist as if to support the pains on is and his right hand holding to the corner flag pole, as though it was a walking stick, this done after he had staggered towards the pole. This gave exactly the image of an old man.

This is not the first time Eto'o uses a mockery in a goal celebration. This similar incident was seen in another 4 - 0 win he had, this time with Spanish club, FC Barcelona against Real Zaragoza where he said "I danced like a monkey because they treated me like a monkey".

Mourinho on his part saw it as a great way of reducing the tension about the ''age mockery'' when he said:  "The best way to defuse the situation is to make fun, so it was a good [celebration],"

Either way, it is seen that Eto'o has this manner of getting back to mockeries. You mock Eto'o, he counters in a goal celebration!

MOURINHO MOCKS SAMUEL ETO'O?

Mourinho and Eto'o
Chelsea Football Club's boss, Jose Mourinho was caught in what he though was a private conversation with the Owner of the Swiss watch company, Hublot. Mourinho's conversation was recorded by the French TV Channel. Canal Plus.

In the conversation, Mourinho confessed that he seems not to be sure of having any real strikers this season in Chealsea Football Club. He however stated that the only person who is making an effort is Cameroonian International, Samuel Eto'o (which is evident in that he has the highest goals above Demba Ba and Torres), but he regretted that Eto'o is seemingly very old for his publicly known 32year old age, stating that Eto'o should rather say he is 35!

This statement was seen to be a mockery towards African soccer players in general and Samuel Eto'o in particular who are reportedly known for reducing their real ages to what is known as their ''football ages''.

“I have a team but no striker,” said Mourinho.

“The problem at Chelsea is that we are lacking a goal scorer. I have one [Samuel Eto’o] but he is 32, possibly 35, who knows?”

Those were the reported words of Jose Mourinho

However, Mourinho rebuts these words saying he was only making a joke and that he never meant what he said.
"There is no story. No story. I repeat: It was a funny conversation between me and somebody who doesn't belong to the football world. We were laughing. I think it's a disgrace that someone is taping and recording a private conversation when, obviously, we don't know''

Samuel Eto'o on his part also says he has no rift between he and his coach, Mourinho

CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: VICTORY FOR ASTRES DE DOUALA

A great match played on Sunday the 9th of February, 2014 between Cameroonian side, Astres de Douala as against Akonangui FC of Equatorial Guinea with the Cameroonian club using that home advantage to beat the Guineans with a 3 nil victory.

The ''Bresiliens de Bepanda'' as they are commonly called  saw themselves already two goals ahead, withe goals scored by Namatchoua and Fossouo Kuate before the half time whistle came blowing and signalling the break by the central refree, Mbourou Yves Gaston.

Returning from the break, the home team saw some lapses in their side and gave more courage to the foreigners to make a series of attempts. However its is thanks to one of such attempts that Fossouo again took advantage, this time in a quick counter where he droppend the ball in with a lob over the keeper, giving him a double in the 3 nil victory.

DJEMBA-DJEMBA ERIC IN ST MIRREN

St Mirren have tied up a shock deal signing  former  Eric Djemba-Djemba, Manchester United midfielder ans Cameroonian International until the end of the season.

Saint's boss, Danny Lennon moved to land the 24-times capped player to boost his options for the closing part of the season and feels his experience will be hugely beneficial.
I am delighted to announce the signing of Eric Djemba-Djemba until the end of the season,’ he told the club website.

It will be their first official match since the debut of the 2014/2015 Cameroonian football season as the Cameroonian Club never played the day one matches of action. Also the club just payed their last honor to their fallen president, Mr. Yong Francis. Despite all these weaknesses, the 18 man delegation under the captainship of their new manager, Enow Ngatchou are very optimistic about their mission in Brazzaville.

THE MOUNT CAMEROON RACE OF HOPE

It is out of our focal area, however we still feel it is of much importance talking about this year's event. Its the historical Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday, the the 9th of January 2014 in Buea. The 38km race which begins from the Molyko Stadium in Buea will this year be sponsored by its one time sponsor, Guinness Cameroon.

The race will run in women and men category and further subdivided into professional, youth and casual runners, with an alocated cash price of 10 million, 5 million and 3 million francs CFA respectively.

It is worth noting that even at her relatively old age, this woman still figures in the upcoming event. Yes she has been five times winner of this race and titled the ''Queen of the Mountain''. This is Sarah Etonge.

The race this year has regained the name the ''Guinness Mount Cameroon Race of Hope'' ans as usual will be streamed live on the national TV network, the CRTV.
